Preserving Nintendo's History
CTRAging (Japan)
- - togemet2

The following dump is a copy of CTRAging for the Nintendo 3DS, an application to test units during production. This copy was acquired from an early 3DS unit (2010) in “Test Menu” mode. Unfortunately there appears to be some sort of technical issue, therefore it does not boot.

Prince of Persia - The Forgotten Sands (USA) (Prototype)
- - togemet2

The following is a prototype of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands by Ubisoft. This build contains a variety of graphical and other small changes (such as a different logo, font, etc). A debug menu is also present and can be opened by pressing the R button during gameplay. In addition to the debug menu, a level select menu is also present and can be accessed by pressing Select.

eSMART 2.0 (Japan)
- - togemet2

We have released the long awaited McDonald’s Nintendo DS cartridge titled “eSMART 2.0” (not to be confused with the previously preserved eCDP). eSMART 2.0 was created with the purpose of training pre-existing employees in Japanese McDonald’s restaurants, and thus, these cartridges were never supposed to make it out into the general public.

After a few listings of this game appearing here and there, we finally assembled a small group to fundraise and secure a copy!

Satellaview 8M (Penguin Kazoku/St GIGA Choujou Kessen 2-15)
- - togemet2

This is an 8M pack for the Satellaview which contains two brand new pieces of software! The first piece of data on this pack is titled “Konae-chan no Dokidoki Penguin Kazoku”. It’s a simple game with similar gameplay to Frogger. The player must collect as many crates as they can and reach the end, all while dodging obstacles and keeping an eye on the timer. Previously, the event version of this game was dumped, however, the version we’ve released here today is the normal non-event version. A comparison between the data for both show that there are byte differences, but the actual effects to the gameplay are currently unknown.

Screenshot Screenshot Screenshot

The next piece of software on this 8M is a digital magazine titled “St. GIGA Choujou Kessen 2-15” and contains information on Mario Kart 64.

Satellaview 8M (Yuuki Nae no GE-MU no Tsubo 3/16)
- - togemet2

This is an 8M pack for the Satellaview which contains two digital magazines, with one already being dumped, and one being brand new. The newly dumped magazine is titled “Yuuki Nae no GE-MU no Tsubo 3/16” and features lots of bizzare promotional art for the Nintendo 64 as well as seemingly random illustrations and bits information scattered between pages.

Screenshot Screenshot Screenshot

The second piece of data (Yuuki Nae no GE-MU no Tsubo 3/23) contains more illustrations depicting Mario and various other Nintendo characters.

Factory Nintendo DSi NAND (2)
- - togemet2

The following unit was used within the factory during the production of the Nintendo 3DS. It is a 1.4J_dev system which has been modified. Below is a photo of how the unit would’ve been set up.

Screenshot

Some interesting photos were able to be recovered from the NAND. The first image appears to be some sort of factory equipment, however, it is hard to make out exactly what’s going on due to the filter which was applied to the photo. The second image is likely a worker at the factory. (Face blurred for privacy).

Donkey Kong Country 3 (Prototype) (May 6th 2005)
- - togemet2

This is a prototype of Donkey Kong Country 3’s GBA port by Rare Ltd. The cartridge labels this build as v0.6 and gives us the date of May 6th, 2005, which was the same month that the port was unveiled at E3 2005. It contained quite a few differences that could be noted for such as: built in cheats do not function, various menu and text changes, graphic changes, mini-game differences, and more. Another point of interest is that it is using the game code for the first Donkey Kong Country port (A5NE) instead of the game code used for the retail game (BDQE).
